On November 14th of last year the ARAS Team provided
hundreds of struggling families with much-needed food, books, clothes
and holiday toys. And, these were only a part of our gift; fresh baked
goods nourished their bodies while massage therapists and chiropractors
renewed their spirits and professional hair stylists cut their hair. Your
generosity, and the service of more than 300 ARAS volunteers, reminded
these unfortunate families that they are not lost from us; that we are
here to support them in realizing their dreams. Through simple acts of
kindness, our volunteers reminded mothers and fathers that we are their
greater family and that we want their children to grow and prosper among
us.
November 14, 2009, our guest
families, all of whom are trying to climb out of poverty, rested and restored
their lives in these ways:
Packaged groceries were passed out to all families.
Guests
selected from thousands of brand-new and like-new jackets, jeans, dresses,
shirts, sweaters and shoes; wardrobes for their entire families.
For
children, there were hundreds of new, high-quality toys.
Families
enjoyed the services of our professional massage therapists, chiropractors
and hairstylists.
Readers
selected choices from thousands of quality books and movies.
Warm
holiday treats and beverages were plentiful for all to enjoy.
Our goal of uplifting minds and healing spirits was a resounding success.
The wardrobes, food and services touched hundreds of families, while the
flow of Acceptance, Respect, Affection and Support visibly moved them.
If you are a volunteer or contributor to The ARAS Foundation, you may
be proud of the good work that was done in your name.
The ARAS Foundation has, for more than twenty years assisted those who
aspire to uplift themselves. We seek areas of greatest need, and help
to expand self-worth and self-confidence so people can begin to win at
life. The Harvest Festival is only one example of how, with your support,
ARAS makes our society healthier and also provides volunteer opportunities
for those who know the joy of service.
