BOB TRASK
Bob Trask founded ARAS in 1978. Until that time he had been a firefighter,
actor, singer, emergency medical technician, scuba diving instructor,
wilderness guide, master sea captain, and always a writer and personal
coach whose clear perspectives of reality and natural caring helped many
people uplift their lives. His adventures included assisting people at

countless dramas in between. The wisdom he gained, combined with his unique
talent for designing programs to empower and enlighten, quickly elevated
Bob to the role of personal-coach and trainer. He knows that full and

INTERVIEW
WITH BOB TRASK
It was a rainy autumn morning, Perry and Melanie Chinn sat with Bob, watching
rain dimple the pond beyond the window, drinking hot tea and eating warm
zucchini bread.
PERRY AND BOB
Perry, (staring out the window): What is the purpose
of my life?
Bob: To experience and express and thereby grow in wisdom and joy.
Perry: Joy and wisdom; why?
Bob: Well, because as eternal spiritual beings, thats our
mission; to continue expanding in joy and wisdom. Joy because joy is the
Grace of God, and wisdom because it ultimately brings us into oneness
with God.
Perry: Who or what is God?
Bob: God is Great Spirit, at least thats what the Native
Americans call God, and I think thats about as close as you can
get. But you could also say Holy Spirit. God is really the intelligent
energy of the universe; The Creator of everything, in all dimensions.
Perry: Intelligent energy? That doesnt sound like a being.
Bob: But that intelligent energy Im talking about is a being;
in fact it is the Being. The one Being of which we and the entire universe
are all parts.
Perry: How can we experience God? By going to church?
Bob: Yes, we can experience God by going to church; any church.
We can also experience God by going to the laundromat, by going fishing,
by going to the grocery store. We will find God anywhere we are truly
present and awake.
Perry: You said were here to experience and express and thereby
grow in joy and wisdom. Just how do I do that?
Bob: Each of us came into this life with a singular purpose, a
singular mission to fulfill. When we follow our true paths, when we honestly
experience and express life along that path; we grow in joy and wisdom.
When all of us are fulfilling our missions, then the Matrix, The Pattern
is fulfilled. When that happens, we as a balanced family, create an ever-expanding
atmosphere of wisdom and joy.
Perry: But how do I, as an individual, accomplish this?
Bob: By discovering and following your own unique lifes mission.
The late Joseph Campbell said it best when he said; Follow your
bliss! Our own mission paths are made blissful by Great Spirit as
an invitation. That bliss is a beacon that leads to the fulfillment of
your life.
Perry: And when a person chooses not to participate in the Matrix,
then how does the Pattern get fulfilled?
Bob: It doesnt. When many are not participating, not living
their truths, we all begin to feel a sense of powerlessness, an awkwardness,
a sense of something not being right throughout the race; an unreasonable
anxiety and self-protecting behavior that spreads like disease. We become
easily frightened, susceptible to those who tell us to arm ourselves against
each other. And why? Because by losing the perspective of who we really
are, not living our missions, not living in Grace, we become disempowered.
This is a disease that could, through war and disease, eventually lead
to the death of the race. So its not just for ourselves that we
follow our individual lifes missions, it is for the human family
everywhere, and all other life forms too.
Perry: How do I find my lifes mission?
Bob: First you must find your vision. In order for the mission
to be true, the vision must be true. Your vision is embedded in your heart
by Great Spirit for the purpose of pulling you along a certain path of
growth, which is your mission. When I find a vision that captures my heart
and follow it, Im on my path, Im doing my lifes mission.
Perry:
How does one know when he has found his lifes mission?
Bob: Oh thats so easy: every day will the kind you had as
a child on Saturday mornings, you will be filled with excitement and energy,
with the whole day free to do whatever you can imagine. Your work will
feel like play. You will wonder why you ever followed any other path.
The flow of Grace through your life will bless and empower you and provide
you with an abundance of whatever you need to fulfill your mission.
Perry: So then, when Im on my lifes mission, life is
easy. Right?
Bob: Gosh no. Life is never easy, no matter what. But difficulty
can be as fun for us as it is for athletes. When a major league pitcher
is working the bottom of the ninth in the World Series, facing enormous
challenges from within and without, he is in pure joy. When Im on
my mission, difficulties are called challenges; I am exited, empowered
and Im positive I can win. But when Im off my path, difficulty
has a different look; anxiety and confusion reign. Well thats good
news, isnt it? Because it tells me when Im off my path.
MELANIE AND BOB
Melanie: Are visions always great majestic things?
Bob: No, they are often only visions of something I want to do,
be or have within a few days or a month. Remember, the purpose of a vision
is to keep us on our mission path. We eventually accomplish our visions
and they are replaced by others that lead us farther along our path. Some
of our visions may seem trivial compared to others; but if they are calling
our souls, they are important and must be followed.
Melanie: On a slightly different subject; how is Bob Trasks
message different from a host of other motivational speakers?
Bob: Well, I know from experience that people do get motivated
by my work, so I guess Im a motivational speaker. But motivation
is not my main goal, I inform people of the options and opportunities
that are waiting for them, I inspire them to reach beyond where they are
and find the joy of really winning on higher and higher levels.
Melanie: What motivated you to write the book, Gods Phone
Number?
Bob: Gods Phone Number has been banned by many religious
leaders and their churches because it gives a pretty revolutionary viewpoint
of God. I wrote it after seeing that so many people, because of their
religious beliefs, were unable to heal their pain. I decided to find out
exactly what Jesus had to say about it. For three years I haunted libraries
and exhausted the patience of religious leaders. I really studied texts
from all religions, but the Bible most intently. I read everything I could
find about Jesus during his time, including all the English translations
and finally even texts in Aramaic, the language Jesus spoke. I needed
to know if he was advising us against living in high states of joy, I
wanted to know if he was threatening us with everlasting hellfires, to
know if he wanted us to suffer for our sins. What I learned really astounded
me. Jesus was a very different person than the one represented in most
churches. He taught that we are loved, forgiven, and free. He said that
we are empowered by our ability to trust beyond what we believe. Gods
Phone Number proves just how much Jesus wants us to feel happy and free
and forgiven. Reading it gives people a feeling of calm and an enormous
boost in self-love.
